NAPO - Nature and People As One

Inclusive Conservation.
Thriving Landscapes.

We partner with pastoralist herders, youth, women and local elders in Marsabit, northern Kenya to support community agency and decision making.
Our work is rooted in stewardship, which is fundamentally about restoring relationships between people and land, generations, traditional knowledge and new techniques, and conservation goals and livelihood needs.

Our Story

NaPO has won several awards, including the 2025 UNDP Equator Prize, 2025 Ashden Awards finalist, a Restor Life Award 2025 finalist,  and an Echoing Green finalist. Our work has also been featured as part of the the UN Decade of Restoration.

'' NAPO is inspired by the /naabo/ which is the meeting point in a settlement where the elders congregate every evening to make decisions on any issues affecting the community. ''
